You know the feeling right? When your muscles get tense, your mind is cloudy, and, if you’re like me, you are on the brink of tears all day long for no good reason. It is called stress. We all experience it in our everyday lives every now and then, but being a business owner can add a whole new level of crazy stress to one’s life.

But before you accept the fact that your business life is destined to chaos, let me share a few key things that have made a difference in my own life as I deal with stress and running a business.

  1. Breath: Yeah….that’s right. Take a deep, deep breath. Close your eyes and slowly inhale and exhale. You might be surprised just how effectively your body can calm itself down.
  2. Break it down and make a plan: Stress is typically caused when a person has too many things on their plate OR too BIG of things on their plate. Sit down with a paper and pen and write down everything that needs dealt with….large and small. Then, one by one, put them in order of urgency or plan of attack. Now your brain can effectively tackle one task at a time πŸ™‚
  3. STOP. I know. It doesn’t make sense. The LAST thing you want to do when you are stressed out and busy busy busy is to STOP. However, you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish mentally and physically when you have given yourself permission to rest and recover for a little bit. Make it intentional, limited, and purposeful and you will walk away with more to offer and less anxiousness in moving forward,
